ACT Coaching

What is it and how do I apply it in coaching:

ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) is based in positive psychology.
ACT is a wonderful appraoch to life with an abundance of exercises that we can also work with fantastically within coaching.

The applicability of ACT within coaching is really broad, but here are a few highlights:

How do you deal with difficult thoughts, feelings, circumstances?

What role do avoidance and control play with regard to your issue?

Which rules do you use in your (daily) life and how strict are those rules?

How big is the influence of what you think about yourself?

And so much more.

The core of ACT is beautifully articulated by Gijs Jansen in his book Uit liefde voor jezelf: "Difficult thoughts, feelings and circumstances are part and parcel of life. The art is to be smart about them."

Wherever you will be helped by applying ACT, we will do so.

With a bit of luck we will do the famous "pack of yogurt" exercise, I can introduce you to my mind and I would like to meet yours.

This may all sound a bit odd and vague, but the positive thing about ACT is that it allows you to view serious matters with playfulness and lightness. It offers you a lot more freedom of movement in your head (psychological flexibility).
